A new study confirms the advantages of bariatric surgery
An
analysis of different trials on bariatric surgery and published obesity
demonstrates the superiority of this method in weight loss, remission of type 2
diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
Current
recommendations indicate that to consider bariatric surgery as a treatment for
obesity in individuals with a BMI greater than 40 and among those with a BMI
greater than 35 years with the presence of co-morbidities associated with
obesity.
Compilation of studies on bariatric
surgery
The
study presented by specialists gathers different studies on bariatric surgery
from the origin of the method and has selected those based on a randomized and
controlled patient methodology, with a higher BMI or equal to 35 insertion and
follow-up for 36 months. In total, 11 studies involving 796 subjects with a BMI
between 35 and 52 have been analyzed.
On
the other hand, changes in the blood as LDL concentrations were not
significantly different between the two groups. There were no cardiovascular
events or deaths reported after bariatric surgery. The most usualopposing
events post bariatric surgery used to be reoperations and iron deficiency
anemia.
One
of the benefits of this study is that it takes into account the quality of life
and in this context, it is unique. However, the results are limited to a
two-year follow-up and a small number of studies and people. Evidence of
superiority beyond this is not yet clear, especially in side effects,
cardiovascular disease and mortality and they ask to investigate.
Discover the main causes of obesity
The
causes of obesity are multiple and complex. Being obese is not simply the
result of overeating. Successive research has shown that in many cases there is
an underlying genetic cause that predisposes to morbid obesity, so it can be
deduced that diet and exercise programs have a limited capacity to provide
sustained long-term weight loss. Follow us on: Twitter
Obesity
is a problem that increasingly affects our society. Science is still looking
for answers, but until the disease is better understood, the control of excess
weight is something that obese patients must work their entire lives.
Therefore,
it is very important to understand that all current medical interventions,
including bariatric surgery, must not be measured medical cures. Relatively,
they are endeavorsfor reducing the effects of excess weight and ease the sternemotional,
physical, and social significances of the disease.
Factors that Favor Obesity:
The
Bariatric programs Sydney points out that the fundamental causes of austere
obesity happens not to beknown. There are many factors that contribute to the
development of obesity including genetics, environmental factors, metabolic and
eating disorders. There are also certain medical conditions that can lead to
obesity such as steroid intake and hypothyroidism.
Obesity and Genetic factors
Bariatric specialist Sydney has established that genes play an
important role in excess weight.
The
body weights of the adopted children use to showzeroconnection with adoptive
parentsbody weight, who use to feed them as well as teach them the way of
eating. Their weight has an 80% associated with their biological parents, who
never met them.
There
are identical twins, with same genes, happen to show an ample greater resemblance
of body weights than twins, having different genes.
